Tag changes to 123-reg.co.uk

Important information for 123-reg.co.uk customers

123-reg.co.uk are the largest .UK domain name registrar as such that means there is a very good chance an expired .UK domain name was previously registered with them.

123-reg.co.uk do not purge their database after a name has expired, so even though the previous registrant has allowed the domain to expire 123-reg still associate it with the past registrant.

This can cause an issue when you as the new registrant then try to add the domain at 123-reg.co.uk, after we change the TAG to 123-REG. What you need to do is contact 123-reg support and tell them it is a new registration and point them to the whois output for the domain name that shows the new registration date. It is advised to phone 123-reg as they are inept at dealing with support raised via their email systems.

Alternatively you can bypass 123-reg by logging into your account at Nominet and transfering the domain to an alternative registrar, Nominet will charge you £10. To do this goto

If you do not have your password click on 'Access your acount' and enter the email address you used on caught.co.uk to register this domain name. Once you have your login details continue to the registrar TAG change page.

We will not release any domains to 123-REG unless you understand the above and agree to resolve your problems through 123-reg.co.uk as this has become a regular problem where many of my customers believe it is an issue with myself.

I would suggest you not use 123-reg.co.uk and use an alternative registrar like http://www.daily.co.uk or http://www.heartinternet.co.uk both of these are also cheaper then 123-reg.co.uk. Simply create a free account with them and email me to change the TAG to either DAILY or HEARTINTERNET
